Management Made Easy (Card game)

Price: USD 30.00

(Temporary out of stock)

Management Made Easy is designed to help new and experienced managers identify the skills required for effective management. In this game, we will examine the components of the three skills required for effective management:

Managing people
Managing communication
Managing operations

There can be arguments for more categories. However, the three categories are broad enough to include many managerial duties. Dr. Donald Kirkpatrick says Management is both an art and a science. It is, perhaps, useful to keep in mind that there is certainly no one correct way.

The purpose of the game is to stimulate discussion and get participants to recognize that management is a holistic process that requires a careful combination of the three skills to manage an organization. The game is designed to stimulate interaction among adult learners and to reinforce the importance of recognizing the inter-relationship of three key roles. There is no particular sequence or order in the way a manager carries out the roles.

Henry Mintzberg's study focused on analyzing the behavior of managers and attempted to categorize the functions they performed. His study found that managers did not perform all the traditional functions described in management text books. He found that their work activities could be classified into three categories representing three types of roles: interpersonal, informational and decisional.

The cards are not intended to be exhaustive. They are designed to stimulate discussion. The number of cards and the quality of cards chosen will be reflected in the score, but the score does not convey good or bad management. The purpose is to learn that management must be holistic and the three key roles are essential for effective management.
